Bots and Computer Opponents

Pachisi Reforged currently supports solo play against computer-controlled opponents. Bots follow the same game rules as players.

What is a bot?

A bot is a computer-controlled opponent. Its name is its in-game identity; its engine decides how it moves.

Do bots use the same rules?

Yes. Bots follow the same rules as players.

Where do bot engines run?

Crepuscular, Brindled, Basher, Shadelands, and Big Whip run on the player's device. Traversing uses both the player's device and Scrimtera servers.

Which engines are available?

Journey uses Crepuscular, Brindled, Big Whip, and Traversing. Brawl uses Basher, Shadelands, Big Whip, and Traversing. Individual bots have names assigned to these engines.

What happens if an engine fails?

A fallback engine handles that move:

  • Traversing → Brindled in Journey or Shadelands in Brawl
  • Crepuscular → Brindled
  • Basher → Shadelands The normal engine is tried again on its next turn.

Are bots offline?

Most engines run entirely in the browser. Traversing requires a network request, but uses an on-device fallback if it cannot respond.

How can bots help me learn?

Bots are sorted from easier to harder opponents. Start with easier bots and progress as you improve.

Are bot names difficulty levels?

No. Bot difficulty order is automatically based on placement data.
