Journey Goal and Strategy

Race pieces Home and build total score before the clock expires.

Journey Game Mode

Journey is a 30 minute race mode. It is closer to the traditional rules of Pachisi.

Your goal is to move all five of your pieces from your Yard to your Home while earning the highest total score.

Bringing all five pieces Home before time expires earns a permanent completion bonus: +100 for first, +75 for second, +50 for third, and +25 for fourth.

The match ends when all four players bring all five pieces Home or the 30 minute clock expires. In both cases, final places are ranked by total score, with ties decided by turn order. Finishing first does not guarantee first place.

Journey Strategy

Your main objective is to make steady progress toward Home while protecting your pieces from opponents.

You earn progression score at entering tiles, Castles, the midpoint, and Home. Journey awards more progression score than Brawl.

If a piece is captured before reaching Home, that piece’s entire current progression score is lost. Pieces in Home are safe, making their accumulated progression score permanent.

Bringing all five pieces Home before time expires also earns a completion bonus based on finishing order: +100 for first, +75 for second, +50 for third, and +25 for fourth.

Captures also earn modest combat score in Journey. Being stopped by an opponent blockade subtracts 5 combat score for each trimmed movement step.

Use captures and blockades to slow your opponents while protecting your own pieces.

Blockades can protect pieces, prevent opponents from advancing, and create favorable capture opportunities.

Captures can set opponents back, break their blockades, and remove pieces that threaten your own.
