Piece Movement and Move Order
Move Guards, Guard groups, and the Noble by choosing a direction and assigning rolls.
Direction and Move Order
On your turn, you may move Guards, the Noble, or both, as long as each move is legal.
All pieces you move on that turn must move in the same direction: forward or backward.
You cannot move your Guards forward and your Noble backward on the same turn, or vice versa.
Your direction choice only applies to the current turn. You may move forward on one turn and backward on a later turn.
You may choose whether to move the Noble before or after your Guards.
Assigning Rolls to Guards
You may assign multiple stored rolls to one Guard, split rolls across several Guards, or choose not to use any Guard rolls.
Each Guard moves by the total value of the rolls assigned to it.
For example, if you assign 3, 3, and 5 to one Guard, that Guard moves 11 spaces and those rolls are removed from your roll store.
Guard Group Movement Order
When multiple Guards or Guard groups move on the same turn, larger groups move before smaller groups.
For example, a group of 3 Guards moves before a single Guard, even if both have rolls assigned.
If two or more moving groups or pieces are the same size, the lowest piece number moves first. G1 moves before G2, G2 before G3, and G3 before G4.
Four single Guards move one at a time in G1, G2, G3, G4 order. If there are two groups of 2, the group with the lowest-numbered Guard moves first.
Guards that start on the same square move together only while they share the same legal path.
If one Guard has a higher roll total than another Guard on the same path, they move together until the shorter move ends. The remaining Guard then continues alone.
Once Guards in a moving group separate, blockade checks use only the number of Guards that are still moving together.
If Guards start together but their legal paths split, they move as separate groups. This can happen when one Guard can enter the Home path and another cannot.
Each group updates the board before the next group moves. This means captures, blockades, midpoint progress, and Brawl scoring can affect later movement on the same turn.
Noble Movement
The Noble may move 1 to 6 spaces, or choose not to move.
The Noble uses its own movement options: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.
You cannot combine Noble values the way you can combine stored rolls for Guards.
