Brawl Capture Scoring
Brawl captures award combat score for each captured Guard or Noble based on your Noble’s location at the moment of capture.
Scoring Captures
The points earned from a capture are determined by your current score tier.
Your score tier is based on your Noble’s location at the moment the capture occurs.
Combat points are calculated by multiplying the number of captured pieces by your score tier.
For example, capturing three pieces while in the +100 score tier earns 300 points.
Moving your Noble past its midpoint unlocks the highest score tiers.
Capture Scoring Tiers
Higher score tiers reward players for placing their Noble in more vulnerable positions.
Your Yard, owned entering tile, Home path, and Home are safe spaces where your Noble cannot be captured, so they provide the lowest score tier.
Regular tiles provide higher score tiers because your Noble can be captured while occupying them.
Reaching your midpoint increases the score tiers available on both regular tiles and Castles.
Castles provide lower score tiers than regular tiles because they protect your Noble from capture.
| Noble Location | Captured Guard | Captured Noble |
|---|---|---|
| Safe space | +20 | +50 |
| Castle before midpoint | +50 | +100 |
| Regular tile before midpoint | +100 | +150 |
| Castle after midpoint | +150 | +200 |
| Regular tile after midpoint | +200 | +250 |
Scoring Noble Captures
Capturing an opponent’s Noble also captures all of that player’s Guards on the board, except those already in Home or on their Home path.
Guards in the Yard, Home, or Home path are not included in the capture and do not score points.
A piece cannot be scored more than once during the same capture.
For example, if you capture a Noble while three of that player’s Guards are on the board and one Guard is in the Yard, you score four pieces: the Noble and the three Guards on the board.
Movement Order Matters
Because your score tier is determined at the moment of capture, your movement order can affect both your score and your Noble’s safety.
For example, suppose your Noble begins the turn on a Castle. You can move your Noble first onto a regular tile, increasing your score tier before your Guards capture an opponent. This earns more points but leaves your Noble exposed until your next turn.
Alternatively, suppose your Noble begins the turn on a regular tile. You can move your Guards first so their capture uses the higher score tier, then move your Noble onto a Castle for protection.
Balancing higher capture scores with your Noble’s safety is an important part of Brawl strategy.
